Another poem
I wrote this poem last school year. It deals with the Virginia Company's arrival to America and how they viewed the land. Shoulda sent it in somewhere, as this is the 400th anniversary of the event, but I don't know if Jamestown would be particularly pleased with my views. Enjoy!

Glistening clarity washes below us
Green density comes into view
Drop anchor, step cautiously into new antiquity
Soft granules of anticipated welcome remember our footprints
We take it in…virgin territory
Virginia
Freeform and untamed
Shall we truly carve this into submission?
Leaves clap polite applause, not knowing our intent
In and from God’s creation we bring forth our creation…
A wall
Our first gift to this land is a border, a fence
Nature is already unnatural
We shut ourselves in and declare separation
Thunder of drums ripples in the distance
We know we are not alone, not the first
“God gives us this land as fulfillment of promises ancient”
Will we be as faithful to our promises?
