Shopping makes me tired

Since I don't have anything thrilling to report, I'll let you in on my day. Went to Lincoln today to run errands. After going to every store in the city that sells solar lights, I ended up getting the ones I had taken back in the first place, thinking I'd find something better. At least they were $10 less this time! I got a new polo from the mall-wide clearance--music to my ears. Not bad--$25 polo shirt for $7. Also got 2 t-shirts, but one isn't the one I wanted, but what they had and it's all I could get with the exchange of the one that hadn't fit. Also got 2 pairs of flip flops for $6, so I have something for the beach as well as something to keep my feet from touching the fungus-infested shower floors in the dorm this fall. Got some other little junk too--nice to have a day to just spoil myself a bit. 6 hours shopping has left me like a zombie though--must...get...sleep.
Okay, now that I've made myself sound like a girl for a paragraph, I must be redeemed. I have installed 9 of the 12 solar lights, which make the yard look incredible. With the new paint on the house and the lights, it looks like we actually have money. Grams will be thrilled come July when she's out here. I also spent 2 hours in the 95 degree heat mowing for a guy who was gonna put a fireworks stand on the Sonic property. He told me to have it done by the 22nd and he still hasn't showed up---glad I made a special rush. When driving the truck I borrowed for that day from a car dealership, I lost the licence plate that the guy had attached to the rear bumper. What's worse? He had taped the registration to the back of the plate! It isn't my fault he did this, but I'm a bit guilty feeling for not realizing I'd lost the plate sooner. I've had my parents and myself all take separate vehicles and look for it multiple times to no avail. Hope someone finds it and turns it in.
Tomorrow's my parents' 34th and my mom's bday is coming up a few days later. Mom and I will be in IA for the week, so I won't be around to chat or anything until July.
Enjoy the week--pray for my safe travel and that I get some relaxation on my 'vacation'.

Summer Lovin'

Get your attention with the title? Sorry to disappoint, but no lovin' going on in my world. I do love summer though....
I hung out with a friend last night which was good for me. Nice to get out of the house and talk with a buddy. We may do something Friday--we'll see.
I've been working as usual, which means nothing thrilling, but I am getting 3 separate paychecks, which is much needed, especially with a music degree program at a private school. STILL no word as to whether I got the music scholarship or not. I need to fill out some paperwork for financial aid come to think of it... I have so many things to think of...books to read, bills to pay, housing forms for fall, financial aid, and so on. I never want to deal with the mountain of junk that I should sort out in my room.
I was supposed to sing on the 4th, but now I see we've been bumped out again by these 2 groups that insist on having 3 performances each. So now our 1 little time slot is gone for the 2nd year in a row and I'm pissed off.
In better news, the sun is shining and it's beautiful out, my cat who was sick seems much better, I'm reinstalling my music software to HOPEFULLY get my CD out this summer (please pray), and I should be getting my car fixed this week--faulty starter.

Here's to June

Hey. June is here and with it the hope of vacation time. The plan is to go to Iowa to stay with Grams before the 4th (so it may not happen until July), bring her here for the 4th since we're the "4th of July City", and then she'd get taken home, maybe by Lisa. I haven't gotten to stay in Iowa for some time now and it would be a nice getaway. Grams' town is small and quiet, which can be a problem if you stay too long, but for the typical trips we make, it's perfect for getting away from people, noise, frustration, and such. There are some stores, video rentals, a pool, park, and library, which all help to make it more enjoyable. It's the type of town where you can literally walk from one side to the other when you're in the mood for a nice walk. I find the park to be a perfect place to just think (or escape from thinking) while feeding the ducks, sitting on the swings, or strolling through the fairgrounds.
Until then I have work to do. I am on campus Mon-Fri for custodial work. Yesterday I drove the John Deere gator around and made 4 deliveries on campus. Got to check out the big girls' dorm for the 1st time as I filled the closets with supplies on each floor. It's in an X shape and can be very disorienting the way it all comes together in the middle--hard to tell which direction your going in once you get in there. I also do the weekend cleaning at Dad's office and I WOULD be mowing for Sonic's, but the rains (and massive drama I won't even go into) have prevented that. Keep going Stephen...vacation will be soon...
My yard's looking quite nice. The flowers look better than they have in years, and I've added hanging baskets, roses, columbine, snap dragons, and pinks this year to make it even better. I'm gonna make some stepping stones using some glass we have in the garage and mosaic tiles or marbles or something.
Well, I could keep going, but I have a little weekend house/yard work and a little reading to catch up on.
